CHRISTMAS SERVICE
A big thank you to Mark Rodgers and James Falconer for the lovely but emotional Christmas Service again this year. Donations for cards came to 257.82 thank you to all who donated.


MAIN SUPPORT MEETINGS VENUES.
We would like to thank the Sportsman's Club for the use of their premises for our monthly support meetings. The room we have is suitable and parking is easy.

RGU TALK 'A PARENTS PERSPECTIVE '
Thank you to Sonia Gow once again who performed her talk to 2nd year Midwifery students at RGU in December. It was well attended by the students and many interesting questions were asked. We handed out 'Guidelines for Professionals' books to all attendees.

 

BAIRD FAMILY HOSPITAL AND FUNDRAISING REQUIRED.
We have recently been shown as a group the latest design plans for the new hospital and the Bereavement Annexe in particular. Fiona Donald, Sandra Stephen, Susan Forsyth and other members of the committee have been involved from the start of the planning process and we now wish to fundraise for the interior decor and furnishing of this project. Anyone wishing to fundraise for this please email help@aberdeensands.com and we can guide you how to get started..

BABY BREAVEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY DAY FOR PROFESSIONALS.
This helped the attendees to take photographs and make lasting memories for bereaved parents.

 

RUBILSAW WARD
We have had a big thank you from the staff at Aberdeen Maternity Hospital and the Rubislaw Ward for funding the two rooms which need to berefurbished and furnished and for the idea of the side entrance for parents away from the hustle and bustle of the main door.
We have kindly been asked to be involved in upgrading the decor of the two ensuite rooms over the next few months.

 

MATERNITY LIASON COMMITTE
The committee continues to meet with Fiona Donald and Susan Forsyth in attendance, ensuring that SANDS is involved in shaping the Maternity Services in the Grampian area for the future. If the any parent has any feedback they would like taken to the committee, good and not so good, please email help@aberdeensands.com.

 

Amendment to the last newsletter. The 'Hope for the Future" Child Bereavement Conference which Sandra and Claire attended was a Joint Event between Grampian Child Bereavement Network and Cruse Bereavement Care Scotland.

 

ANNIVERSARY CARDS ,.
Should you wish a card on the anniversary of your baby's death ,please send your name, address, along with your baby's name and date of passing to help@aberdeensands.com.

 

MEMORY POCKETS
Marjory is still doing a great job keeping Rubislaw Ward stocked up with Memory Pockets.

 

SCOTTISH NETWORK DAY

CONGRATULATION ON THE SAFE ARRIVAL OF

Rebekah MacKenzie and Daniel Nicol on the birth of Madason Kathleen Autumn Nicol on 6th January 5lb 10 oz little sister to the late Adam.

Simon and Katie Pearce on the birth of Andrew Christopher Pearce born on
28th January weighing 7lb 14oz, little brother to Emma and the late William.

275.00 from Nicole Bennett was raised at her daughter Ruby's funeral. Nicole wanted the money to be spent on items for Rubislaw in memory of Ruby.

150.00 from Helen and Layla Willox which they raised at car boot sales in memory of Macy.

 

105.00 from Liina Roostoja and Olivier Verguth which was money from them and also Liina's colleagues at Aberdeen City Council Waste and Recycling Team.
in memory of Lilian Marie.

 

10.00 from Roy Melvin a member of the Sportsman Club where we hold our main meetings.

 

340 from Ruth Jamieson raised at her fathers funeral. Stillbirth has affected their family in the past hence why they decided to donate to Aberdeen SANDS.

 

200.00 from Ian, Mary and Joey Milne in memory of their great niece Georgia-Anne Milne. Daughter of Neil and Linda Milne

 

2000.00 from ASIG Ground Handling Ltd at Aberdeen Airport . Every year they choose a charity and make a donation and this last year they selected Aberdeen
SANDS, where Morag Lister Kennedy works. The committee decided we will use this money for the refurbishment of the two rooms at the back of Rubislaw Ward.

1020.00 raised by Lesley Flett who took part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk 2016.

 

1081.00 raised by Fiona Brown who took part in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk and raised money to purchase a Cuddle Cot for the Rubislaw Ward in memory of her precious baby Abbie.

 

465.00 raised at Alford Christmas Charity Fair by Lynn Hedley Craik.

 

640.00 raised by Emma Willox who took part in the Baxters Loch Ness 5K 2016..

 

165.00 raised by Denise Rush who took part in the Pedal For Scotland -Classic Challenge 2016

 

112 from Stoneywood Primary School raised at their Christmas Performance
1000.00 from Rebecca Carr Hair Salon they opened in February last year so they had a raffle, then they had a raffle at Christmas and a raffle at their one year anniversary party. They also donated all the 5pences from selling poly bags to SANDS.

 

400.00 raised by Louise Cormack who held a Kid's and an Adults Halloween Party
